The sign-in page now says what KaPickle does. Under the form:
a court with a rally playing on it and a demo scoreboard calling the
score, six cards on what the app does, the three steps to start, and
a button to make an account. Send the address to anyone you want to
bring in; it reads without signing in.
The email boxes fold away under "or use your email" so the court is
the first thing under the Google button. A phone that signed in by
email before gets them open on the next visit.
What KaPickle does is also a page of its own now, in the
menu next to How it works and in the footer of every help page, so
you can send that one link to anyone you want to bring in. The help
links sit at the bottom of the sign-in page too.
Links show a picture. Shared in Viber, Messenger or a post,
the app's address and the What KaPickle does page now come with a
picture of the court and the tagline. Share the new address, the
old one gives no picture.
Book the next one. A session can carry its booking page
(Reclub, Sports360, any web address), on the setup form or in the
session's Settings. The session card, the wall and the copied
summary then say "Book the next one" with that link.
For the admin: share a link ending in ?from=reclub (or fb,
qr, sports360) and Who uses KaPickle counts the visits per source.
On the TV. In full screen the wall ends with a thin strip:
Powered by KaPickle, the address, a QR that opens this live view
on a phone, and the booking link when the session has one.
No score? Tap who won. Both Final score sheets now start
with a button per team. A game recorded that way is listed as WON
and counts one point of difference. Standings also show the win
rate.
On the What KaPickle does page, Create a free account is put away
when you are already signed in.
Fewer taps at the net
5 October 2026
A new address. KaPickle now lives at
kapickle.tambayanhub.com. The old kapickle.pages.dev address
forwards there, links and codes included. If you installed the app
from the old address, install it again from the new one.
Opened from a shared link without an account, the menu now offers
only Sign in and the help pages, instead of Profile, Sign out and
Ask to run sessions, which all needed an account.
The queue on the big screen. The wall now shows who is next
on a free court, then who is after that, in groups of four in the
order the courts will take them, the same as the phone's Up next
tab. In TV mode the first two groups show and the rest is a count.
The full screen button now shows the right icon everywhere: it says
"leave" only when the app really is in full screen. A phone whose
browser merely fills the screen no longer gets the television
layout on a leaderboard or a tournament.
Find a name. A search box above the check-in list, the
session's People tab and the group's Players tab narrows the list
as you type; Select all and
Clear then apply to the names shown. Once a session is running with
Auto-save on, the bottom button on the check-in screen is put away,
since every tap is already saved.
Everyone plays six first. A new session setting, "Everyone
plays this many games before anyone plays more": courts are filled
from the players still under the number, and players at the number
only make up a four when fewer than four are free. The Courts tab
says how many are still under it; the session's Settings can change
it mid-night.
Leaderboard tie-breaks. A month's board now ranks by wins,
then points difference, then points scored, then head to head
between the players still level, and marks anyone still level after
that as "draw needed" for the organizer to draw lots in the open.
All-time uses points scored as its third key.
Small fixes from a review. A court still showing its last
result can no longer be given a game under it; voiding an old game
leaves a busy court alone; a matchup with every game voided no
longer counts as a draw; skill ratings stay members only on a
shared tournament; Back always returns where you came from; the
tournament table scrolls on a TV even after a leaderboard was
opened; the line under a leaderboard or tournament never wraps and
says its dates once.
Team tournaments. Under the group's new Teams tab an
organizer makes a tournament, its teams (two or more players each,
with a colour) and matchups: Blue v Red on a match day. A match
day is an ordinary session; the organizer adds each game of the
matchup to a free court, picking one or two players from each
team, and it is scored on the scoreboard like any other. The team
with more games wins the matchup, a matchup can be a draw, and the
table counts points per matchup (2 for a win and 1 for a draw by
default), then games difference. Shared by link and full screen on
a TV like the leaderboards. A match day says so on its Courts tab,
with its matchups and a way across to the tournament, and wears a
MATCH DAY tag in the sessions list.
A leaderboard for the month. The group's All-time tab is now
Leaderboards: All-time is the first entry, and under it an
organizer can make a board over any
dates: which nights count (Wednesdays and Fridays, say), how many
of a player's games a night count (the first 7, by default), the
minimum games to qualify, and whether the score is the best single
night or everything added up. Ranked by wins, then points for minus
points against; players still level share the place. Share the
link and anyone can open it without an account. All-time has a
link of its own, and any leaderboard goes full screen on a TV with
the rows scrolling by themselves.
The final point waits for you. When a game ends on the
scoreboard the result stays up: FINAL, the score and who won, with a
NEXT GAME button to move on and Undo if the last point
was a mistake. The next four are lined up only when you press it, or
by themselves after three minutes so a forgotten phone cannot hold
the court. The Courts tab and the big screen show FINAL on that
court meanwhile. Typing a final score still moves on at once.
Auto-save on check-in. Tick a name and it is saved there and
then; untick somebody who has gone home and they are out. No Save
button to remember. The switch at the top of the list turns it off if
you would rather tick first and save once.
Every court has its own colour. Court 1 is lime, 2 sky blue, 3
orange, 4 purple and so on, shown as a chip wherever a court is
named: the Courts tab, Up next, the scoreboard, the big screen and
the menu. Borders still mean playing or ready.
Faster at the court. The session screen now fetches everything
in one go instead of six requests in a row every time a point lands
anywhere, and it only listens to its own session. Your own taps no
longer repaint twice. The app's library is served from kapickle
itself, so first load has one origin fewer to wait on.
The portrait scoreboard fits every phone again: the digits take the
room that is left, so POINT, SIDE OUT, Undo and More never slip
below the screen edge.
DEUCE and GAME POINT now show under the call on the
scoreboard, beside the score on the Courts tab and on the big screen:
deuce when win by 2 is on and both sides are level at 10 or more,
game point when the serving side's next point ends the game.
Wrong server? On the scoreboard, tap a player's box on the
court drawing and the ball is theirs. Undo takes it back like any
other tap, and the score never changes. Same team, the partner takes
the ball; the other team, that side serves as first server (at the
very start the opening rule keeps it at -2).
The Courts tab shows who is serving on a live game: the
pickleball sits in the server's box and the receiver's box is
dashed, moving as the game goes. Up next draws each waiting
game on its court too, in the court's colour. Change players still
works: the boxes are the buttons while you are swapping.
The court drawing itself now wears its court's colour, and a
pickleball sits in the serving box, on the Courts tab, the
scoreboard and the big screen.
Phone held sideways: the scoreboard now keeps the court drawing
and its swap arrows beside the score instead of dropping them. The
serving box also pulses whenever it moves, so a server switching
boxes after a point is seen, not only true.
The rule is on the board. "to 11, win by 2" sits under the
team names on the scoreboard and on every big-screen tile, so nobody
finds out at 11-10 what the setting was. The organizer can now
change Play to and Win by 2 from the session settings
while the session runs; games waiting and in play pick it up,
finished games keep the rule they were played under.
A new session always starts from the defaults (to 11, win by 2 on).
The form used to keep whatever the previous session was given.
Type score is now a button under the scoreboard, beside Undo
and More, instead of a line inside More.
Before a session starts, unticking somebody who was already checked
in now takes them out; it used to do nothing.
Invite somebody to run their own group
21 September 2026
Invite an organizer, on Who uses KaPickle, gives an admin a
six-letter code and a QR to hand over. Whoever enters or scans it
names their group and owns it from that moment. No more making the
group yourself and handing it across.
The code works once and expires in 30 days. An unused
one can be withdrawn. The admin sees who used which code and what
they made.
Enter a code on Home now understands three things: a session
code, a group code, and an invite. You do not have to know which one
you were handed.
Each court on the big screen is now drawn as a court: two boxes a
side, the kitchen between, every player's name in the box they are
standing in, the serving box lit with the ball and the receiving box
dashed, the same picture the scorer sees. The two big numbers sit
over the end each team is playing from.
TV mode. Put the live link in full screen (the button, or F11) and
everything fits the screen with nothing to scroll: the bar hides, the
courts take one side and the standings a panel on the other (under
them on a phone upright), and standings that do not fit crawl slowly
down and start again. When the courts would be too small to read,
the wall shows one court at a time and turns every few seconds. A
touch brings the bar back for a moment.
The big screen (the live link) has been re-cut. Names sit above
the numbers in white, the ball marks who is serving, the call and
the game point sit between the scores, and the type is sized off the
court tile, so one court is a real board and four across still read
from the far side. A tile is never taller than the screen, and the
courts and the table share one width.
On the scoreboard, the swap arrows are now on the court drawing:
between a pair's two boxes to swap them, and on the net to change
ends. One tap, no menu. Only the person scoring sees them.
An admin who makes a group is no longer put on its roster. You
made it for somebody else; you still see it, you just do not show up
on its check-in list. If you do play there, join it with its code
like anyone.
On a person's sheet, turning the organizer switch off only hands a
group back; they stay a member. Their row now says member of N,
runs M so the two are not confused, and there is a Remove
beside the switch to take them out of a group altogether. Games they
played stay in the record.
Keeping a name off the public board, from the last update, now also
appears on the admin screen and the player sheet.
A calmer Courts tab, and when each game was played
21 September 2026
One button per court. A card had four, which is twelve on a
three court screen, and typing a score in sat at the same weight as
starting the game. Now there is one button, and the line underneath
opens everything else: type the score in, take the court, hand it
back, or change who scores it.
That line reads as a sentence at last. It used to say "Scored by
Bolero" over "is in this game when it starts", and on court 1 it
said "due on court 2", which sounded like the court was.
Games now says when. Each result carries the time it
finished, and results are grouped under the day they were played,
so a session that runs past midnight still reads correctly.
And it counts in English: "1 game", not "1 games".
Changing a line-up, and who runs a group
21 September 2026
Change players now has its own button on each waiting game.
Press it and the names become tappable: tap two to swap them, and
anybody in the queue counts too. A bar at the top says what to do
and how to stop, so nothing depends on knowing a hidden gesture.
Swapping two players in the same game works. It used to fail
with a message out of the database. That was the most ordinary swap
there is, so it is the one worth having.
A court card no longer says somebody is playing in a game
that has not started. It now says where the scorer actually is,
like "due on court 2".
The two numbers on a court card say Level in front of them,
and Change says Change scorer, which is what it does.
Ask to run sessions is in the menu if you do not organize
anything yet. An admin sees what you asked and can put you in
charge of a group, even one you have not joined.
Admins can search the list of people and tap anyone to see
which groups they run.
Check yourself in, and four ways to match
20 September 2026
Scan to check in. Tap Share on the check-in screen and hold up
the QR. Everyone scans it with their own phone and ticks their own
name, so the organizer is not the one typing all afternoon.
Scan a QR from the home screen if you would rather not type a
code at all. Your phone's own camera app works too.
Pick how people are matched. Balanced evens out the teams by
level. Social mix ignores levels and rotates partners. Same level
keeps similar players together. Winners up is the one most
clubs already play by hand: court 1 is the top court, win and you
move towards it, lose and you drop back a court.
In Winners up, Up next shows where everybody stands, so you can see
your own court without anybody keeping a table.
End the session is now on the Courts tab instead of hidden in
the menu. If a game is still on court it tells you which one, and
lets you put the score in or void it there and then.
The check-in button counts for you. It says how many are ticked, and
tells you when you still do not have four for a court.
Only an admin makes a group. In Group settings the owner can put
somebody else in charge as an organizer.
Courts run free
20 September 2026
No more rounds. A court that finishes is given its next game
straight away, from whoever has waited longest, so the quick court
no longer stands empty waiting for the slow one.
Games appear on their own the moment the session starts, and again
every time a score goes in or somebody new checks in.
Up next lists what is waiting and what is being played. Tap two
players to swap them, or reshuffle everything that has not started.
A line-up you arranged by hand is left alone by the automatic
reshuffle.
Nobody can be put on two courts at once.
Full screen on every screen, and the scoreboard goes edge to edge
when you turn the phone sideways.
The receiver now stands diagonally opposite the server, as they
should.
First version
20 September 2026
Make a group once, add everyone who plays, and give each person a level.
Players without an account can be added as guests and still get ranked.
Balanced rounds: the app fills every court at once, evens out the teams
by level, and rotates who sits out.
Tap two players to swap them, or reshuffle the whole round.
Keep two people together all day with Always partner with.
A scoreboard for every court: the call in big numbers, the server and
receiver by name, time-outs, a game clock and undo.
Turn the phone sideways for a big court display you can prop up.
Hand a court to a scorer. They run that board and nothing else.
Live standings, and a Top 5 with awards when the day is done.
Copy the results as text and paste them into the group chat.
